Video Transcript for Flex-a-lite Radiator Fans - Electric Fans - FLX180 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Flex-A-Lite 15" Black Magic Extreme electric radiator fan with the shroud and the thermostat controller. Now this Flex-A-Lite universal Black Magic Extreme S-Blade electric radiator fan can recover engine power and increase fuel economy when used as a primary cooling fan to replace the belt-driven fan. This part includes the electric fan with the one-piece shroud made from a nice rugged nylon, helps withstand the high under hood temperatures. It does come with the aluminum brackets I have laid out here. The temperature control unit right here has an adjustable thermostat from 180 degrees to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Also has terminals up at the top here for A/C activation and/or cockpit control. Has a wiring kit bag with all the mounting hardware and installation hardware for installing it. Now this fan is reversible, it can be a pusher or a puller application, and you'll just change it by popping this clip off and flipping the fan over. It does has as you can see the eight sweep blade design which is engineered for efficiency and nice quiet operation.

The airflow on this fan is 3,300 cubic feet per minute. The average draw is 18 amps. Now I just want to give you a few dimensions on this. Let's turn it over this way. If we get the overall width, it's going to be right at 21-1/2". The height is going to be right at 17-1/2", and the overall depth is going to be about 4-3/16" deep, and the diameter of just the fan itself is right at 15". That should do it for the review on the Flex-A-Lite 15" Black Magic Extreme electric radiator fan with the shroud and the thermostat controller..

Fan works amazing! I'm using it as a puller. I removed the original fan clutch and it's so much better! I live in El Centro California and its HOT here. I can idle for hours with the AC on high. I drive a 93 Bronco, 5.8. Great Product! USA Baby!!

My vehicle used to run borderline hot until I installed this #180 flex-a-lite fan system . Idling in my shop for almost an hour (95* ambient) and temperature never exceeded 195* . Always a good feeling when a product delivers what it claims! This product deserves 10 stars hands down??!

  • Will Converting Dodge Dakota to Electric Fan Increase Fuel Mileage
Electric fans do improve fuel mileage and power since they allow the accessory belt drive to turn with less resistance. I did the same conversion on an older Camaro years ago and it cooled better, improved mileage, and power. You'll have to measure your current shroud to determine what the best fan setup would be. The Flex-a-lite 15" Black Magic Xtreme Electric Radiator Fan with Shroud # FLX180 measures 21-1/2" wide x 17-1/2" tall x 4-3/16" deep and can pull 3,300 CFM so it would be a great...

  • Electric Fan Recommendation for 2001 Chevy 2500HD with 6.0L V8 Gas Engine
For a truck with as big of an engine as your 2001 Chevy Silverado with a 6.0 liter engine that is going to be towing a trailer you'd want to go with a fan setup that pulls more CFM than the # FLX116 which moves 2,215 CFM. That's basically the bare minimum CFM recommended for a small block V8 so for your truck with a larger small block that's towing you'd want more like 3,000 CFM like the Flex a Lite # FLX180.

  • Recommended Electric Radiator Fan Upgrade for 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ
The best electric radiator fan you can go with is the largest one you have space available for. • Electric Fan that Fits 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5.2 Liter
For your 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.2 liter engine we have the Flex a Lite electric fan kit part # FLX180 as a confirmed fit. It comes with wiring instructions but you should know that it does not integrate into the electrical system/gauge display of your vehicle at all. Instead it comes with it's own thermostat and sensor setup that allows you to pick when it comes on and off based on temperature of the coolant. So it would not affect the temperature display on the gauge at all....
