Video Transcript for TruRyde Curved Equalizer Installation

Today we're going to be showing you how to install the True Ride Curved Equalizer for the 1 3/4" Wide Double Eye Springs. These measure 7 3/4" from center of the hole to center of the hole, and offer a 9/16" center hole. Part number is TREQE1. Here's what your equalizer look like when you have both your springs attached to it. This equalizer's design for use with springs that are 1 3/4" wide, so you just want to keep those in mind. It's basically designed to help transfer energy from one axel to the other, so we're not having such an abrupt suspension system where everything's at a fixed point. This allows it to move back and forth, and that's going to give us a smoother ride for our trailer.

These work out well for the tandem, like we've got here, even the triple axle trailers. These will just have another set of them back there. It helps just to transfer that energy, or that shock, through the suspension system, rather than just one spring or the other taking the full brunt of the impact. We'll slide our equalizer in to the center portion here. Bring our bolt through. Then we just replace our old nut, or in our case we're doing a new hardware kit for it.

Which is the Never Fail Lippert Components Kit, so we'll just put that hardware in place. Now, we're ready to slide our shackle straps on there. Then we'll just be able to attach those to our spring. Eye is normal. Now, with our axles in place we can move on and get our shackle bolts tightened down. We'll just use the same process that we used on the upper bolts there.

We're really just using this wrench to get the spline started. Then we can tap them through and tighten up the nut. That's going to complete our installation of the True Ride Curved Equalizer for the 1 3/4" Wide Double Eye Springs. Part number TREQE1.

Not happy! Quality is very poor! Comes with nylon bushings! No grease zert! Not what I thought I was ordering! Looks like it was drilled and oversize bushings put in it to reduce down so nylon bushings would fit! I will not order any other products from etrailer!!! 611211

The photos in the product description show nylon bushings. The equalizer wouldnt typically have a grease zerk, youd want to use a wet bolt like # 126B2

Great product! All the bushings once pressed in to the springs and levelers were nice and snug around the bolts, unlike the white plastic ones that normally come with a little slop in them. 490107

I received an equalizer on my original order that had a damaged bolt hole, I called the folks at etrailer.com and they sent me a new one right away. The people at etrailer.com really do care about their customers. A special thanks to Crystal for her help. 350037

Perfect match! Bought my trailer from a scrap yard and decided to replace the whole suspension. Didn't know much about Tandem Axle trailers but the folks at etrailer were super helpful and the product descriptions are so in-depth that I was confident I was making the right purchase. I'm disappointed they are made in China but I won't knock anyone at etrailer for this as I didn't see any US made equalizers for a remotely competitive price nor did any other sellers offer the level of quality customer service at etrailer. Plus, I know that etrailer doesn't sell junk so even if it was made overseas I am confident it is still a quality product. I'll be back again and so will everyone I know! 171075

This product looks identical to the one that came off of my 1992 trailer. The original piece is stamped Brazil, the new one is stamped China. Time will tell how it holds up, but install was no issue. 162900

After suffering a major incident on the highway where 3 of the 4 tires were destroyed along with the rims and some suspension parts, I needed parts fast and correct for my trailer. These wheels, along with the other suspension parts, where inexpensive, well built, accurately described, delivered quickly, and exactly what I needed to get my trailer back up and in operating condition again. 369864

Working on a 18' utility trailer that has been used and abused. Went to replace the bushings and shackles and when I pulled the equalizer down found the center hole so egged out I am surprised it did not break. Went on line to etrailer and had the replacements in 2 days. They already come with the new bushings so quick and easy to install and get the trailer back in service safe and sound. 338742

Product was exactly what I expected when I ordered. My old equalizers were only 5 and 3/4" wide and much shorter. These longer and taller equalizers will allow the springs to work in unison better due to the original placement of the front and back spring hangers. Quality seems to be very good. 713818

  • Are There Equalizer Kits Available with Replacement Shackles, Bolts and Equalizers
Sounds like you are talking about an equalizer kit like the part # K71-449-00 for a heavy duty equalizer setup or the part # AP233 for a standard duty set.

  • Replacing Equalizers on an Enclosed Haulmark Trailer
To replace your equalizer you will need to take a couple measurements: A = Length from center of left-most eye to center of right-most eye C = Diameter of center eye hole D = Diameter of left and right eye holes (always 9/16 inch) E = Height from center of bottom hole to center of top hole See the diagram to the right. This isn't typical of equalizers to wear out after a year. It seems to me your trailer could be overloaded causing the equalizers to breakdown quickly. Ensuring...

  • Why Would Trailer Axle Shackles Flip Wrong Direction When Trailer is Unloaded
If the shackles are flipping the wrong direction frequently that typically means the leaf springs are too short, the hanger spacing is too big, or the shackles are too short. Most of the time it's somebody changed leaf springs and just went with replacements that are too short and now the shackle angle is too flat when unloaded and they easily flip over bumps. So basically the solution is to get the shackles at more of a vertical angle. You can do this by moving the hangers closer, installing...

Equalizer # TREQE1 does not have a weight capacity itself. It isn't bearing much of the weight compared to other components in a trailer suspension set up. If you have a tandem axle trailer then you could potentially use kit # APT5, # APT3, # APT9, # APT8, # APT7, or # APT3HD. All of these kits have the 7-3/4 inch long equalizers. For a triple axle trailer you could use # APTT5 or # APTT3. All of the above kits also come with hangers. If you do not need hangers then you would...

  • Is There a Torque Rating for Installing Trailer Suspension Shackle Bolts
Since suspension components use lock nuts on the ends of the shackle bolts and the bolts need to be able to allow movement you actually don't want to torque down the bolts at all. It will not change how your system functions.
