Not happy! Quality is very poor! Comes with nylon bushings! No grease zert! Not what I thought I was ordering! Looks like it was drilled and oversize bushings put in it to reduce down so nylon bushings would fit! I will not order any other products from etrailer!!! 611211

Comments
The photos in the product description show nylon bushings. The equalizer wouldnt typically have a grease zerk, youd want to use a wet bolt like # 126B2

I have not used the mdse.i got yet but it looks like everything is correct and appears to be good quality. I will say the service was excellent. I wasn't expecting the order for 4-5 days and got it in 2 days, doesn't get much better than that. The prices are acceptable also. Should make my old trailer like new again. Thank you 779499

I knew my shackles where worn but like most people, I put off changing them until one broke. I did buy the HD Dexter shackle kit about 6-12 months before installing it. I bought the wrong shackle kit with too small equalizers. I ordered this to get the job finished up. I only gave them a 4 star rating because they were definitely not as heavy as the Dexter units--Dexter had grease fits and bronze bushings. This unit had no grease fittings and what looked like plastic bushings. With that said, These units worked just fine. Hauled 5k lbs with them so far. We will see what the test of time says. 778059

Product was exactly what I expected when I ordered. My old equalizers were only 5 and 3/4" wide and much shorter. These longer and taller equalizers will allow the springs to work in unison better due to the original placement of the front and back spring hangers. Quality seems to be very good. 713818

Ask the Experts about this etrailer Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

  • What Type Of Bolts Are Used with Equalizers and What Is the Torque Needed for Them
Yes, you will use knurled shoulder bolts to attach the equalizers and leafs springs. If you are interested in the Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs part # TREQE1 then you will be better off going with the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double Eye Springs part # APT5 as this comes with all the shackle straps, knurled shoulder bolts, and nuts you need as well. If you were to try and piece these together with the above equalizers you would end up paying more. The leaf...

  • Replacement Equalizer and Hanger Recommendation to Replace EQE1
For a kit that comes with the same size equalizer as the # TREQE1 that you have that also includes bushings, hangers, and a hanger bolt you'd want the # APT3HD. This also comes with shackles and everything else needed so you'd be set with just the one part number.

  • Equalizers and Shackles for Triple Axle Trailer
I recommend 4 etrailer.com equalizers part # TREQE1 that measure 7-3/4 inches long if you have a 9/16 inch center bolt. If you have a 3/4 inch center bolt then you need part # TREQE34. Both of these equalizers are 2-7/8 inches tall. You want to measure the height of your equalizers to make sure they are the same. I have attached a diagram to show you how to measure the height. We do not carry 3 inch eye to eye shackles but we do carry 3-1/8 inch shackle straps part # TRSL313. If you...

  • Determining Correct Replacement Equalizers and Shackle Straps for Older Trailer
The easiest way to determine the correct replacement parts for your trailer's suspension is by simply measuring its existing components. Looking at one of your current equalizers, you will want to measure from the center of the front hole to the center of the rear hole. Then measure from the center of the top hole down to the center line between the two lower holes. One of the more popular sized equalizers is a 7-3/4 inch long unit like # TREQE1. I have attached an image with the dimensions...

When you say EQ-E1 I believe you are referring to the Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 7-3/4" Long - 9/16" Center Hole part # TREQE1 which is manufactured in China. • Why Would Trailer Axle Shackles Flip Wrong Direction When Trailer is Unloaded
If the shackles are flipping the wrong direction frequently that typically means the leaf springs are too short, the hanger spacing is too big, or the shackles are too short. Most of the time it's somebody changed leaf springs and just went with replacements that are too short and now the shackle angle is too flat when unloaded and they easily flip over bumps. So basically the solution is to get the shackles at more of a vertical angle. You can do this by moving the hangers closer, installing...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Suspension Sag Causing the Equalizers to Pitch Forward
The first thing to check is that the boat is loaded properly on the trailer. If there is significantly more weight on one of the trailer axles you will need to adjust the cargo in the boat or the way the boat is loaded on the trailer to get the proper amount of tongue weight and even out the load over the trailer axles. You will most likely find that the weight of the boat is centered too far forward and that moving cargo or positioning the boat slightly rearward on the trailer will increase...

First you would want to jack up the trailer frame and then use jack stands to support it so that you can lower the jack and the wheels will be off of the ground. Put another jack stand on this axle and then move to the next axle and do the same.

  • How to Torque Suspension and Equalizer Bolts when Changing Shackles on a Horse Trailer
When replacing equalizer bolts and shackle bolts you will not use a specific torque rating for tightening the bolts. The first thing you should make sure of is that the bolts you use are long enough so that when installed you will have at least 2 threads protruding from the nut. Next, make sure that the nut you are using is a locking nut, so that it cannot work loose and fall off. Next, if the bolt you are using has knurls at the bolt head you will want to tighten the bolt down...

  • Does Trailer Suspension 7-3/4 Inch Equalizer EQ-E1 Have a Weight Capacity
Equalizer # TREQE1 does not have a weight capacity itself. It isn't bearing much of the weight compared to other components in a trailer suspension set up. If you have a tandem axle trailer then you could potentially use kit # APT5, # APT3, # APT9, # APT8, # APT7, or # APT3HD. All of these kits have the 7-3/4 inch long equalizers. For a triple axle trailer you could use # APTT5 or # APTT3. All of the above kits also come with hangers. If you do not need hangers then you would...

  • Is There a Torque Rating for Installing Trailer Suspension Shackle Bolts
Since suspension components use lock nuts on the ends of the shackle bolts and the bolts need to be able to allow movement you actually don't want to torque down the bolts at all. You want to snug them up so that there's no lateral play but still allows easy movement of the bolts/shackles so that you don't inhibit the suspension from being able to do what it needs to do.

  • Should Axles be Aligned with the Tongue or Frame on Trailer with Tongue that was Welded Off-Center
When aligning the axles on your Trailstar Trailer, I recommend aligning them so that they are square to the trailer's frame. Doing this will maintain the load capacity and structural integrity of the trailer itself. If you were to instead align the trailer to the tongue, it would shift the load bearing components of the trailer off-center, essentially reducing it to an unknown capacity. The Curved Equalizer part # TREQE1 which measures 7-3/4" long is only really offered in one height which is 4-1/4". That said, installing a taller equalizer will not really raise the trailer if that is what you are after. It would only do so marginally at best if any. If you were looking to lift the trailer, the Lippert Components Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # LC407131 would provide a solid 2" but there aren't really many other options for this.
