1996 Chevrolet Suburban

I have had the front receiver hitch installed on my 1996 Suburban for about a year now. I have a 12000 lb winch installed using that receiver hitch. I have gotten stuck twice and had to use the winch to extract the truck. Very glad that I have the front receiver hitch as it made putting on the winch very easy. Also useful for mounting a receiver mount bicycle rack to the front as well.

Great! Still there and still very useful.

1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Product was shipped promptly and arrived a few days later. Packing was good for a heavy item with pointy edges, no issues breaking out of the box. Installation on a lift took about 30 minutes on my 1999 K2500 Suburban. The bolts were long enough to allow for my tow hooks that were already in place. A bolt stringer to pull the rear bolts from the top (inside the frame) is provided along with nuts, the other four just replaced the stock bolts that I had that mount from the bottom into tapped frame metal through the tow hooks. Curt makes great quality stuff. Clearance was reduced a little but I'm not concerned about it.

1997 GMC Suburban

The front mount hitch looks and feels very solid. I haven't installed it yet, but it looks as though it will be trouble free. I'll be using it for my 9,000lb Westin winch, and a cargo carrier on my 1997 K2500 Suburban

by:

Following the instructions I had the hitch mounted in 30 minutes. The picture shows what I wanted it for. Great for when I am towing the pop-up camper.

by:

Took about 20 minutes to install!!! Needed it for my winch. Michelle S. Took my order I think on a Tuesday and said I'd get it sometime the following week. I got it yesterday!!! Took a whole 2 days!!! If you need to order anything call Michelle. I think her ext. Is 79327. SHE'S AWESOME. THANK YOU MICHELLE!!!

GMC

I purchased this front receiver hitch to be able to park my travel trailer in a tight space. It is everything that was advertised. Installation was easy and straight forward. It took me a bit longer to install due to my 99 GMC Truck's tow hook nuts not being welded to the inside of the frame. There was a threaded metal strip instead which moved around when the bolts were removed. It was difficult to line up the tow hook and hitch holes to get the bolt started in the strip. I finally used a magnet to support the tow hook and a pair of needle nose vise grips to hold the strip while I started the bolts. Hind site is 20 - 20, It would have been easier to use the bolt and nut combinations provided with the hitch for all 6 of the holes. Out side of this, assembly was easy. The wire tool provided to install the bolts thru the inside of the frame was a great time saver and a wonderful invention. I am well satisfied with this hitch.

Excellent hitch, easy install with minimal tools. Installed on front of my 1999 K2500 Suburban. I can now use my bicycle rack on the front of my Suburban leaving the rear doors fully functional.

Product works great.

by:

Mounted easily and proved to be very useful. Used A receiver type mounted snow plow all of last season to plow my driveway.

by:

The product itself is great, packaged nicely, etc but the directions are a bit sketchy. They could've done a much better job with it.

by:

The hitch is well built but simply too low (when mounted) to be of much practical use. Ideally the receiver needs to be at the same level as the bumper.

We do have an alternate hitch where the receiver is higher for your 1995 Chevy CK pickup. It is part # 65005.

by:

Easy to install and is holding up great. I recommend a hitch cap to prevent oncoming road debris from prematurely wearing away at the receiver. Thank you Curt and thank you etrailer!

I've purchased two (2) Hitch receivers from etrailer.com. One - for Toyota FJ Cruser and one - for Chevy pickup truck. Both fit my vehicles perfectly. I am very satisfied and happy with the site service and product.

by:

It was too low to be installed on the front of my truck kept scraping the ground. It's been sitting in my storage for over a year.

We do have an alternate hitch that will sit at an estimated two inches higher when installed then the Curt hitch. It is part # 65005 on our site and will fit with a 1989 GMC CK Pickup 1500 2 or 4 WD. It does require drilling, the fascia will need to be trimmed, and the license plate would need to be relocated.

1998 GMC C/K Series Pickup

I bought this to make parking in my garage safer and easier. It's a very steep driveway and very tricky access street. This hitch makes the job much easier. I can use it for long boat ramps if and when I need to. It was quite easily installed. Glad I purchased it.

by:

This front hitch mounted up very nice. However the clearance could have been closer to the bumper. That made it nessary to order a lift adapter for adiquate ground clearance for my use

by:
Chevrolet Suburban

Fit my Suburban perfectly. I use it to mount my foldable cargo basket (also from etrailer), so I can still open the rear doors easily. Very handy!

1994 Chevrolet Blazer

Good looking finish just what you would expect. I may have saved a couple of bucks buying something made in china but this is top craftsmanship. The fasteners were top end also, didn't have to go to the hardware store and buy new bolts this came with top end stuff. Bolted up with about 1/8th inch clearance very nice. Took longer to read the directions than it did to install, shipping was fast also. will use these folks again.

by:
1994 ChevroletC/K Series Pickup

Very good fit, was even able to retain the factory tow hooks. Heavy gauge material provides more than adequate strength. Quality hardware, very nice powder coating, and straight forward installation, makes this an excellent choice!!

I ordered your product on Monday and at 6 p.m. Friday it was delivered in Anchorage, Alaska!!!!! Most companies say 3 to 5 days to Alaska. It never happens. We have dogs teams that can deliver the mail faster. You people are great. I ordered a hitch for my 3/4 ton about 4 years ago and it was 3 weeks before we saw it. The box had rip and the nuts and bolts were missing. Your shipping box came through with all the components and without a mark.

Thank you so much.

  • Would Curt Front Hitch part # 31042 Fit a 1996 Chevy 3500HD Dump Bed
Cab and chassis trucks will have a frame that measures 34 inches apart measured from outside to outside. If you don't have a cab and chassis truck the Curt hitch part # 31042 is going to work. It will not fit cab and chassis models though.

The Curt Front Mount Trailer Receiver, item # 31042, is designed to fit the 1997 Chevy K3500 4wd model vehicle that is not a factory cab and chassis design. The 34 inch measurement is taken from the outside of the frame to the outside of the frame. The easiest way to determine if the Curt Front Hitch for the 1997 Chevrolet C/K Series 4wd Pickup, item # 31042, is to measure the bolt mounting holes across the frame, center to center. Regarding your first question, the carriage bolts will point up and thread from through the tow hooks (if present), and up into the factory weld nuts if they are present as well. If your vehicle doesn't have the weld nuts then the carriage bolts will instead fish wire through the frame and point down instead. The square spacers will end up in the vehicle frame with the bolts. Basically the bolts will go through the square spacer, through the frame, through the hitch mounting flange, through...

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch for Using Plow on 1998 Chevy Silverado 4x4
Adding a front mount hitch like the Curt # 31042 to your 1998 Chevy Silverado 4x4 is a very common way to utilize a plow. As long as your Meyers plow is designed to be used with a front mount hitch this is a great solution, but since it sounds like you're wanting to fabricate your plow I can't really say that it will be safe. The front mount hitch will fit your pickup and hold up just fine but I'd be concerned about the plow holding up since you'll be changing how it was designed to be...

  • Why Would 1993 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 have 34 inch Frame for Fitting Front Hitch 31042 to it
Cab and chassis trucks will have frames that measure 34 inches from outside to outside. This is a few inches narrower than most truck frame dimensions and why the Curt Hitch part # 31042 wouldn't be a fit for them. You can measure your truck frame to be certain but if your truck has a normal truck bed on it this hitch would fit just fine.
