Specs:

    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 5.6 amps per circuit

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the wire with the fuse holder to your car battery and connect it to the positive terminal. Then insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within the spare tire compartment of your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I received my plug-in harness for my 2015 Prius. The quality is excellent and it went in without a hitch. Very impressed not having to cut, solder or shrink wrap. That is a big plus not dealing with those situations.

This wiring harness has not given me any problems after using it for one year.

I buy from no one else. My first hitch assembly was for my old 2008 Prius. I got into ATVs during that time and I only had that Prius, and it worked flawlessly. I, however, put that poor car through hell, lol, and eventually the engine gave up on me, so I purchased a 2012 Lexus RX450h AWD, to handle my newly acquired outdoor hobby. I got a hitch assemble again from etrailer for sais Lexus, and it has worked flawlessly as well. Thank you etrailer for making affordable and durable hitches and wire hardnesses.

Order arrived as specified, and was exactly as described! I am very impressed with how well designed and constructed to be an "exact fit" for our 2015 Toyota Prius! I ran into some difficulty and wound up removing the rear bumper skin to install 2 nuts inside the frame of the vehicle because the vehicle had been in an accident, and apparently the body shop facility that repaired the car (prior to our ownership) neglected to replace the weldnuts!
It was still an easy install, just required a little more time, and effort due to no fault of ETrailer or the manufacturer of the hitch.
The wiring harness setup that ordered greatly simplified the light hookups, and was great quality! Exactly as described!
I would definitely order again, and I highly recommend ETrailer, and their products!

by:

super easy to install. All the parts went together and work perfectly.
Keep up the good work and I will, as I always do, use etrailer.com for my needs

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid

The light kit and the trailer hitch installed quickly, and fit correctly. It took me about 30 minutes to install which included cleaning out under the trim areas.

by:

Plug n play. Directions were easy to follow and the harness operates as it should.

2015 ToyotaPrius

Your pics were right on! It took about 15 to 20 minutes to hook up/install. Worked like a dream on my 1959 Elgin /JC Higgins tent trailer. 2008 Prius. Thanks again!

I have purchased 4 etrailer hitches& wiring harnesses. They have all performed flawlessly.

ToyotaPrius

Because the taillights on my Prius run on low wattage LED bulbs, I couldn't just tap into the existing wires to run my trailer lights. I researched what would work and was happy to find the best solution was the wiring harness sold by etrailer. They work great.

After a year of use the wiring harness still works great.

by:
2005 ToyotaPrius

The light wiring was easy to install, even for a non-car person like myself. The hitch went on, was a little tougher but that was because it was a bit heavier but I managed it by myself (and a floor jack). In all this was a great purchace and would recommend them for all your hitch/wiring needs. This reciever hitch and wiring went on a Toyota Prius.

Has anyone successfully installed this on a 2013 Prius. I have a 2013 Prius III.Thanks

We have not yet had a 2013 Prius come through, but rest assured, when we do we will video a wiring install. A Prius III will not use this plug in kit. Instead it needs either C59496 or 119147KIT.

Shipping was quick. I ordered a hitch and harness to get free shipping. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but installing the harness was pretty easy, once I got the grounding wire screw to bite (had to screw my body into position first).

Having used the trailer wiring and hitch a few times over the past year, I am quite satisfied with both. In the installation of the wiring, I was unprepared in that the process messed with my electronic door locks and I had to get them reprogrammed. Otherwise, no problems. Thanks again!

by:
2012 ToyotaPrius

The wiring package instructions were easy to follow and the harness was the correct length to attach each connection. I am still using it today with no issues. I would recommend this to anyone with medium or higher skill abilities working on automobiles . Great product !!!!!!

Thanks,

I watched the installation video twice and then installed my wiring harness to my 2010 Toyota Prius in 15 minutes. There was no two-faced tape for the power brick but there was a hole in the plastic casing for screwing it to a side panel. I probably spent 5 minutes finding a metal screw in my toolbox...so it was really about as 10 minute job. I purchased my hitch mount, hitch ball, and wiring harness from eTrailer.com and everything fit perfectly, works perfectly, and I could not be happier with the products.

by:
2011 ToyotaPrius

The Hitch and Wiring Harnes were every thing I had hoped for.
The quality was very good an the installation went very well
without any problems.
Thank you

2010 Toyota Corolla

This works as advertised. With the quick connects the whole thing takes less than 10 minutes to install. It powers the lights on my trailer brightly and correctly. It does not require the rewiring that the factory Corolla kits does.

You need to mount the blackbox on the right near the 12v battery as the wires for the right tail lights are a bit short. You'll need a 10mm and 12mm socket to connect the power and ground leads.

The only improvements I can envision would be the integration of some diagnostic LED so you can quickly verify proper operation, and inclusion of a properly sized grommet for the wheel well drain hole. The printed instructions are hard to follow, but also mostly unnecessary as it only really fits one way.

Otherwise this kit it nearly perfect.

I haven't had one iota of issues with my wiring harness. It was amazingly easy to install and I am grateful for it! Thanks you.

I love my trailer hitch! I have told many people about how easy it was to install and how etrailer is the best, giving excellent advise on how to install, customer service, and price. I am thinking of selling my car and getting one that can tow my little tear camper better and I thought of you if the vehicle I purchase doesnt already have a tow hitch.

by:

It worked well. The only problem is I reversed the blinking side! Easy to fix that.

by:
2005 ToyotaPrius

This was not difficult to install in my Prius but there are several steps involved and a couple of little puzzles to solve that aren't covered in the directions, so overall, I spent an hour or so on it. The trailer lites all worked as expected and they now shine brighter than when I've connected it to my pickup.

I've not had a tow vehicle before with trailer wiring that had supplemental power to the trailer lites as this wiring harness provides and I imagine that's a good thing from a safety standpoint. It'll be interesting to see if the bulbs in the trailer lites burn out quickly or not.

The installation puzzles I had to solve were a) How to disconnect the wiring harness plugs to the existing wiring to the car taillites without damaging that wiring, and b) How to connect the wiring to the battery.

To separate the existing wiring harness, one has to find a way to pry the plastic catch out from the block while simultaneously pulling the two pieces apart. The existing wiring provided by Toyota was such a surprisingly small diameter that I feared it would break if I pulled on it. I found needle nose pliers worked fairly well to grasp and pull on the plastic plug, but due to the awkward location and small amount of play in the wiring, serious contortions were required, at least for this old man.

Connecting the new harness to the Prius battery was complicated by the safety cover on the positive terminal. I never did figure out how to remove that cover, but found that it could be bent out of the way temporarily so that the connection could be loosened with an extended socket.

One surprise was that when completed, the Prius again started beeping loudly when put it in reverse. (Soon after I bought the car, I had turned off that beeper.) But going thru the same routine to turn the beeper off was again successful, so no biggie.

So overall, I'm glad I bought this wiring harness. Connecting it was probably simpler that splicing into the car's wiring directly and perhaps it was safer, too.

2006 ToyotaPrius

Directions clear. Installation 1/2 hour. Works!
Installed a 1.25" receiver hitch at same time. The receiver hitch took about 3 hrs to install because I twisted off a mounting bolt while removing the factory tie downs on this 8 year old Prius with 150,000 miles on salty Wisconsin roads.
Intend to use pulling a very light trailer for surf boards and bikes behind 2006 Prius.

by:

High quality and easy to set up. Customer service is outstanding! At first I thought there was something wrong because the lights weren't working on the trailer. I contacted customer service, and within minutes I was connected to a highly certified service rep who really knew her stuff!! She instructed me to check the ground connection on the trailer for rust. I did and sure enough the connection was rusty. She then instructed me to use a file to remove the rust. I did so; and then reconnected the wires. After that it's worked perfect ever since! Thank you =)

They also provided full refund on the first part (minus shipping) it wasn’t even there fault. So I would say they are very good company to work with. And I will tell everyone I know
