Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today, we're going to be taking a look at a Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness. This product fits certain years and models of the Mercury Mountaineer, Ford Explorer, and Ford Ranger. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com. It's going to provide a 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. Now this is designed to plug into a factory tow package. It's compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. If you need an adapter, adapters are sold separately, and it's going to come with the dust cap for the 4-way flat connector.
That way, you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used. Now the unit is designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. Just locate the connection point behind the rear bumper and plug in your connector. It's going to a perfect fit. It is custom fit for the vehicle, so it's going to match up perfectly with the plug, and it's going to snap-lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have this plugged in, that's really all there is to it.
You can use the zip ties or cable ties that are provided with the kit to secure any excess or slack in your wiring. Once the install's complete, the 4-way's going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep it secure and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately. If you don't want to use a mounting bracket, you can loop it around the safety chain loop on the hitch. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electric connections like the plugs on your vehicle, and the 4-pole connector itself.
That grease is specifically designed to prevent corrosion at the connection points. It is sold separately, and available at etrailer.com. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, that's three amps per circuit, and for the taillights, it's 5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt T-connector Vehicle Wiring Harness.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. Connector plugs directly into OEM tow package port - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.Purchased this in conjunction with a new hitch for a local tile installer. Unbeknownst to me, he had a factory Ford connector already installed which was a better fit than etrailer's. I still have this T-connector, though, so I may use it on a different vehicle later.
Plugged right in to the factory harness. Works perfect.

Sorry no pictures but my Ranger wiring plug was exactly like the one in the instructions.

excellent no problems at all maybe the best product Ive ever ordered
The wiring harness connected without any problems. Was just what I needed for my 1996 Explorer.
By far the easiest part to install. Just pulled the cap and plugged the cable in. If you don't have the tow package, this is not the part you want.
Worked great when I first got it and a year later still working fine

The hitch has been a perfect addition to the Ranger. Should have done it sooner. The lighting plug and adapter was a simple plug in to the factory wiring harness. Now I have trailer lights as well.
