Features to know about

Climbing Steep, Snowy Driveways: Square Links Bite into Snow and Ice

When the road turns slick and the incline gets serious, these Konig chains dig in and hold. The square links give firm bite on packed snow and light ice, helping you power up steep grades or get safe control on the way back down. The diamond pattern keeps more of the chain in contact with the road for steady traction instead of slipping between rungs.

Driving Through Winter Storms Made Easier: Assisted Tensioning Keeps a Tight Fit

Out in blowing snow, nobody wants to wrestle loose chains. The built-in assisted tensioner takes care of that fast. You just pull it tight, and the chain centers up around your tire without extra tools. Because it’s built into the design, you don’t have to worry about carrying or losing separate adjusters. Once set, the snug fit stays put while you drive.

Smoother Ride on Icy or Snow-Packed Roads: Diamond Pattern Spreads the Grip

With a diamond pattern instead of a basic ladder shape, you get a smoother roll and constant grip as the tires rotate. That means less bumping and vibration when you’re crawling through snow or crossing icy patches. It’s a nice balance between traction and comfort, especially for long stretches of winter roads.

Built to Handle Winter Season After Season: Manganese Nickel Alloy Resists Corrosion

These chains aren’t just for one storm. The high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel holds up against wear, impact, and road salt. Powder-coated side chains and nylon bumpers protect wheel rims from scuffs while the metal keeps rust at bay. Dry them before storing and they’ll be ready for the next snowfall.

Ready for Real-World Winter Use: Tough, Protective, and Backed by a 5-Year Warranty

Each chain has 16 mm inside and on-tread clearance and requires 5/8" internal clearance. Nylon bumpers, closed shortening hooks, and Wheel-Shield Level 2 protection guard your wheels from metal contact. Double side springs and MICRO-ADJUST fittings help achieve a precise wrap each time. Packed in a durable nylon bag, this pair of chains is built for dependable traction and long-term reliability when the weather turns rough.

Note

To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

by:

Great chains. I use a set of four on a subaru outback. Living at elevation, snow and ice. Not uncommon wintertime scene.

Pretty easy on (have a pair of leather gloves and headlamp), five minutes ideally to get all four on in the dark.

Practice with them before the storm.

Very easy off.

Will vibrate your teeth out if travelling on plowed roads, but that's not what they're intended for anyway. Take them off and throw them in the trunk.

I used these chains for the first time to get me home after work when winter storm Jonas hit the east coast. The snow was so deep that I only had trouble when the snow started to pick my car off the ground. I made it all the way home with these chains but did notice a few links broke during the 30 minute drive home. I wasn't going any faster than 20-25 mph on the way home. I couldn't go any faster given how bad the roads were. These chains were easy to install and I did drive a few miles before stopping and retightening them as per the instructions. The chains can be used again even with the broken link but I will have to repair them in the spring or buy new ones next year.

by:

eTrailer di an excellent job in helping me select the appropriate chains for my specific driving needs. The communications was outstanding, the package arrived when promised, and the follow-on check to make sure I was able to install and test was exceptional. I strongly recommend.

by:

This was the fastest next day shipping! I ordered late and the next thing I knew the shipper picked it up, and was at my door mid morning! Thank you! In time for a storm!

Chains fit 2022 F350 Tremor with 285/70R18 tires. A little difficult to drape around tire evenly due to the deep lugs/siping on Dura Trac tires but not bad. Plenty of clearance to brake and suspension components. Get some parachute cord to place over the tensioning chain on the rear tire to protect the hub. Have not used in snow yet. A bit pricey but high quality and fairly easy installation both front and back. I also have Konig chains for my Subaru Outback that are excellent. Etrailer customer service is always excellent.

Do NOT buy these chains if you own a Tesla, and I cannot recommend etrailer.com at this point either. I purchased these tire chains Item #TH01221102 for my Model 3 from etrailer.com on based on their recommendation and videos. When I received the chains I test fit them and they seemed to fit and looked fine on the tires. I did not have to actually use them for several months. After a single use, one of the center join links opened before finishing a 15 mile trip at 25 mph. I replaced it with a repair link. I made a 2nd short trip at 25 mph and another center joining link came open after less than 30 minutes of 25 mph driving. I replaced that link with another repair link and it's happened a 3rd time. I contacted etrailer.com because clearly something is not right. etrailer.com referred me to Pewag and Konig to file a warranty claim. All good, I filed a claim and Konig's response was they would honor the warranty claim ONE TIME ONLY (5 year warranty is now VOIDED) because these are not the right chains for my vehicle, and Konig sent me a brand new set of chains, which is nice, but does me no good since they NOT the right chains. I came back to etrailer.com to try to address this further, and at first they blamed me and said I bought the wrong size (I didn't) and provided a link to the correct ones. That link included a listing for the same chains and size I bought. I emailed back and pointed out to them that this was not my fault, and they acknowledged it. I asked them to please do the right thing and allow me to exchange the brand new "wrong" chains which they recommended and sold me, for the correct ones which Konig recommends. I stated I would be willing to pay for a cost difference. Unfortunately, they have not responded to me or any subsequent emails. Not a good experience.

I am attaching an image of where these chain links fail. Red highlights are the failing links. Green are repaired links. I'm pretty sure this is why Konig says don't use these chains on a Tesla.

These chains fit my 2019 Hyundai Kona EV (2WD) well and were just the thing add traction in deep snow after the recent blizzard. They are easy to put on (though the weather and sand/salt on the roads wet, cold and dirty to deal with) and they work very well to boost traction. They are a great value and I would highly recommend!

by:

I have to say I'm extremely satisfied with these tire chains!! They're so aggressive and work well with my corolla. My at is front wheel drive and the weight of the motors sits perfectly in line with the tire/chain combination. They bite and dig right in the snow and ice. My drive way is very long as you can see and quite dangerous in snowy conditions. I've had numerous times where I've had to slip the chains on and it was a breeze. They're so easy to put on and off. I feel extremely confident throughout the winter season with the Thule tire chains in the back of my trunk. Thank you so much! You guys have great products going!

by:

Pleased to say I can finally review these tire chains. I bought them as a precautionary measure before going up to Vermont for a week earlier in January. Used them extremely briefly up there and thought they were solid.

Fast forward a couple weeks to now, and we received 20+ inches of snow in about 24 hours in central Massachusetts. Got to and from my friends' house for the Pats AFC Championship game while the snow was dumping no problem. No need to dig my car out, no need to concern myself with which roads had been plowed or not, and no need to avoid hills in either direction. I never thought my FWD wagon with 6" clearance and all-seasons would eat snow like this. The chains are peace of mind to the highest degree. At this point I think they should plow the roads less!

Mounting is pretty easy too, but they require some finagling to get them in place when you're doing it out in the snow. Getting them off is more annoying because you have to blindly find the connector on the backside of the tire, but it's not bad with some patience.

by:

Shipping was very fast, the tire chains had a hard plastic case, which is great. Visually they look great, brand new, no hardware is damaged, it all fits together properly by hand. I haven't checked the fit yet, I will update my review if they don't fit.

I needed these chains urgently for a family ski trip and William got me my chains in time with 2 day shipping! They were extremely helpful in the order process and I couldn’t be more pleased.

by:

Great Service, quick shipping, and the Konig Tire Chains were exactly what I needed!

by:

They are heavy duty and quality material. Purchased for trip out west, never had to use them, but never hurts to have them in the truck during winter.

by:

Purchased for the rear axle of Infiniti QX80. Yes, plenty of clearance on the rear tires and suspension components. Even though these chains are labeled as not s class compatible I can verify there is a least 2" of clearance. I have to use these living on top of mountain in North Idaho. Very steep driveway to the peak of a mountain about 10 percent grade for my driveway. Studded tires just are not enough on packed icey snow and these perform with excellence!

Hello Tony, I have a great option for your 2022 GMC Yukon XL with tire size 275/50-22. The Konig Tire Chains Diamond Pattern Square Link Assisted Tensioning 1 Pair # KON44FR. I have installed a lot of different chains here at etrailer, and these are honestly some of the easier ones to put on. I still recommend doing a trial run in the comfort of your warm garage. Hello Rick, thanks for reaching out. We do have a tire chain option for you, but the Konig Tire Chains # KON64FR you mentioned are not going to fit the 35x12.5-20 tires. Our best option for these are the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains w/ Cams for Wide Base Tires # TC3835CAM. These are large enough to fit your tires but they do not offer much along the lines of rim protection. The Rubber Adjusters # TCMA2 will be required.
