It sounds like you are needing to get a slide-out awning for your RV, but that your awning arm could be an obstruction. In order to use a slide-out awning like the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000165063, you will need at least 7" of clearance on both sides of your slide-out box.
Since you do not have 7" of clearance, you will need to order the next size down in order to have the appropriate clearance. Measuring for the correct slide-out awning should be done by measure from the outside of the flange on one side to the outside of the flange on the other side.
For instance, if your awning measures between 68" - 73" wide then the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000165063 would typically be the correct slide-out awning. But with your clearance issues, you would want to step down to the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000231482 which fits slide-outs measuring between 62" - 67" wide.
It is ok to step down, you just have to keep in mind that the slide-out awning may not cover 100% of the slide-out.
