Question:

Mi just recently purchased a used Yakima bike rack and it has the cable lock on there but the last owner had lost the key. Wondering how to go about changing that out

As long as the Yakima bike rack is unlocked you can simply get the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 2) # Y07202. This comes with the control key that you'll use to remove the lock core(s) and then you have 2 replacement cores and 2 keys. Normally the Yakima bike racks have a cable lock and a lock for the hitch which is why this kit is your best option.

If the core is in the locked position then you'll need to have a locksmith come out and help or drill it out yourself as the control key will only remove the core when it's unlocked.

Aside from that if you know what the lock core number is you can simply type in "Y8772-XXXX" into our search bar to find the correct replacement key. The Xs will be the number that's on your lock core(s). For example, the key # Y8772-A141 matches a lock core that has A141 on it.
