Question:

Had a dealer attempt to install the wiring from my 2002 Fleetwood Discovery MH to my 2015 Chevy Mailbu for flat towing. The assembly would not work as Im told due to the 2015 Malibu having a Single Element Rear Bulb/Vehicle Wiring. They tell me all they could get it to do is high bright, but would not recognize the variable control normal light vs brake/turn signal They say the only way I can flat tow my 2015 Malibu is with the magnetic lights. Do you have any recommendations ?

Don't worry, I can help! According to Roadmaster the bulb and socket kit will not work for your 2015 Chevrolet Malibu but the universal wiring kit # 154-792-118158 will. It also states that since you have separate wiring that it is recommended to have two additional diodes which this kit includes. While magnetic lights are an option there should be no issue when installing the universal wiring kit to your Malibu.

Some more helpful information I found about towing your Malibu is that you also will have to have a fuse or two that need to be pulled to tow, for this the FuseMaster # RM76511 and # RM76512 are recommended.

The braking system I recommend is the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251.

I have linked a video showing how to install the # 154-792-118158 kit for you and your installer to check out. The wiring color and locations may differ from vehicle to vehicle, but the installation principle is the same. This should help them wire up your Malibu for flat towing.
