GMC rates the various versions of the 1999 GMC Savana Van for towing weights between 4000- and 5500-lbs depending on its specific equipment. Your owner's manual will tell you for what trailer weight your particular van is rated. You can also contact a GMC dealer with your Savana's VIN and they can check it as well.

Coachman produces quite a few different travel trailers in the 30-foot length range, and all of these have a GVWR that is higher than the 5500-lb maximum for your van. You'll want to check the weight of your particular trailer model and confirm the van's capacity before towing. Be sure to consider the weight of passengers and cargo in the vehicle and trailer.

In addition to gross trailer weight, you want to note the tongue weight (TW) capacity of your hitch since this too cannot be exceeded.
