Question:
Hi again, I asked the same questions for a dexter unit by mistake but I was looking at HBA16. So, for HBA 16 unit 1 Black Wire. +12 VOLT / 25-40 AMP. CIRCUIT FROM TOW VEHICLE is it a 12V hot all the time or ignition? or?? 2 Blue Wire. Connects to in-cab controller. What does this wire supply the Actuator? I mean voltage, current or what? for example if it supply voltage, please explain what is the difference between 3V and 12V supplied. 3 does the unit has a built in tank? And is this tank a pressurized tank? I mean if I want to add a return line to the HBA16s tank. Can I do this? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The wiring colors and functions on both actuators are pretty standard so the wiring information for the HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes, # HBA16, will be the same as that for the Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator, # K71-651.
1. The black wire will connect to the 12V circuit coming from the vehicle's trailer wiring that is always hot.
2. White is the ground.
3. The yellow wire will only supply power when the brake-away pin is pulled.
4. The blue wire carries voltage from the brake controller to the actuator. The difference in voltage affects the amount of braking force that the actuator pump will produce. Lower Voltage = Lower Braking Force, Higher Voltage = Higher Braking Force
