Rooftop Ladder Rack and Ladder Recommendations for 16-Foot Enclosed Trailer

Published 11/13/2014

Question:

I have a 16ft trailer and am looking for ladder racks but also the base and ladder that sits on the tongue area to climb up to the top of the trailer. Can you point me in the right direction. Thank you

As long as your 16-foot enclosed trailer has rain gutters on its roofline then the Rack'Em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack # RA-28 is an excellent choice. This heavy-duty adjustable aluminum rack telescopes to fit trailers up to 8-1/2-feet wide and offers a 400-lb weight capacity. The required stainless steel installation hardware is included and at right you'll find a link to an installation video that may be helpful to you. Load stops, part # RA-28-S, are offered for this rack as a set of two.

I suggest you check your trailer owner's manual for any guidance regarding its rooftop weight capacity, which could be lower than the rack's. The lower-rated of the two items - trailer and rack - will determine the overall capacity.

We also offer several exterior ladders for enclosed trailers and these can be seen on the link at right. We can offer several options in various lengths and in both straight and contoured designs.
For example, Stromberg Carlson offers their # LA-401 that features 12-inch rung spacing and adjustable length; it also includes 4 mounting stand-offs. The linked photo illustrates.
