Can Steal Shield be Used in Conjunction with Blaylock EZ Lock Coupler Lock

Updated 10/28/2014 | Published 10/27/2014

Question:

Howdy,I received the Steal Shield I ordered from you, thank you! Now I need something else and I need your recommendation on what to buy. I bought something similar to the Blaylock EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock at a local store. It is square and I thought it would fit my A-frame coupler I was wrong. I needed something that fit over the lip that measures edge to edger four inches. I struck out.I currently have a lock on the lever lock on the coupler, I intend to use something like this Blaylock EZ Lock, then put the shield over that. Any thief will have to make a lot of noise to steal my travel trailer. Oh, they can get it done if there is no one around, but I have neighbors that are nosy. If they hear something out of character they will investigate even if I am at home. Will the steal shield fit over this Blaylock EZ Lock, without any modification? The lever on my coupler is small and sets right next to where the ball fits into it. If it will not fit, do you sell or know of anything similar to the Blaylock EZ Lock that the steal shield will fit over and still function as intended? If you do not know whether these two items will fit and work together, and you can not recommend anything else, can I order the Blaylock EZ Lock and find out if it will fit, then send it back to you for a full refund if it does not fit?Thank you for your time and effort. I cant take my travel trailer into the woods without a system that I am happy with. Help will be much appreciated.

I spoke with my contact at Steal Shield and he said their coupler lock was not designed to be used in conjunction with another manufacturer's anti-theft device though he has heard of people using a padlock with the Steal Shield. If you decide to do this I recommend our etrailer.com Coupler Lock part # e98888, which inserted through the trigger lock would provide extra security for your trailer.

Without knowing the size of the ball of your coupler or your coupler profile I cannot give a definitive solution, but here are a few more suggestions for you.

The Master Lock stainless steel trailer coupler lock guard, part # 377DAT, is a more likely fit than the Blaylock EZ Lock Coupler Lock, # BLTL-34 given the sizes of the two locks. Check out the video review of this coupler lock guard I have linked to at right.

Another option is to go with a wheel lock like The Wheel Club Tire and Wheel Lock # WI490. This lock fits tires up to 28" diameter, 9" wide. I have included a video review of this lock for you to check out also.
