What is the Expected Life of a Trailer Breakaway Battery During Winter Months
Published 10/15/2014 >
Question:
All batteries have a life cycle. How long can we expect a battery to be functional before it is replaced? We have long periods of time when the trailer is parked in very cold winter weather. This normally drains any battery. How long before it is hooked up to the truck does the brake system function as it should? Can the battery ever be fully topped up? Thanks

Typically, if your trailer is exposed to the elements, the breakaway battery should last at least a full season. There are many variables that can affect a batteries life expectancy.
The Engager trailer breakaway # 20099 includes a built in battery charger as is stored inside a weather resistant battery box. The LED tester, when depressed, will advise you if the battery is fully charged and/or needs charging. Most instances the battery can be fully charged in 20 minutes.
Another thing I would check after the breakaway battery # 20099 has been idle for an extended period of time is the state of charge in the battery.
I have included an instruction link and a couple videos for you as well.
