Question:

Hi, I purchased a primus IQ P2 for my Nissan Patrol GU two years ago. I sold the vehicle and have purchase a Mazda BT 50, 2013 4x4. I went to the auto electrician to have it fitted and he has told me this unit will not work in the Mazda. I not confident that the information he gave me is correct. Would like information from anyone that may have had the same response when trying to have it fitted. Cannot see why it wont work. Cheers

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and they have no information on the Mazda BT-50 truck. It is not made in North America and doesn't appear to be available either. You may be able to find someone that can locate the wires that are needed to complete an installation for you.

As the included drawing shows, you should have 4 wires coming from the brake controller. The black wire should be connected to the 12 V source using a circuit breaker (the controller instructions should note what size circuit breaker you will need). The white wire should be connected to the negative post of the battery. The blue wire will need to be run to the rear of the vehicle and attached to the trailer connector to supply the signal to the brakes on the trailer. And the red wire should be attached to the cold side stoplight switch at the top of the brake pedal that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed.

To locate the correct wires, you will need a circuit tester like part # PTW2992.
