Question:
Curious about the true capacity of the setup. I have a small snowmobile trailer that has been easily towed behind other small/midsized vehicles and the total weight of the trailer and snowmobiles is 1,700 lbs with only about 50-100 lbs of weight at the hitch. The trailer uses a 2inch ball on it. Im debating if this is a good or a bad idea to do with a newer fusion and would love to hear your thoughts.

I checked online at Ford and the owners manual for the 2016 Ford Fusion indicates a 2,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity if it has a 2.0 liter motor. If you have any other motor then you will not be able to tow a 1,700 pound trailer.
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24897 has a 2,000 pound capacity so it can handle the trailer. For a ball mount use # 3594 in the rise position only. And you mentioned that you need a 2 inch ball so you can use # 19258.
And for trailer wiring you can use # 118574.
