thinking of buying a 2007 ford explorer with a class 2 hitch from the factory. can this hitch be removed and a class 3 2x2 hitch installed?

I have a solution for you. You would want the Draw-Tite part # 75437. This is a Class III 2 inch hitch specifically designed to fit your 2007 Ford Explorer with a factory hitch. You will need to retain your factory hitch to install this hitch. It will fit below your factory hitch.
For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.
