Left Tail Light on 2010 Chevy Traverse Stopped Working After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness

Question:
I installed a Curt 56027 trailer wiring harness on a 2010 Chevy Traverse. All lights on trailer and car work EXCEPT the drivers side tail light on the vehicle. I changed out the bulb and still no help. I can see a very, very dim bit of light....it appears as though there is not enough power getting to the bulb. Can you help.

Expert Reply:
Trailer wiring harness # C56027 is a T-connector, a pass-through device that doesn't draw any power itself so the only way that it could be causing the tail light to not work is if a pin inside one of the connectors is bent or broken, dirt or corrosion is in one of the plugs, or the unit does not have a sufficient ground.
You will want to unplug the connectors and check the vehicle side and trailer harness connectors to see if any pins are damaged or if anything is dirty.
For the ground, you may need to sand away any paint on the metal surface. It will be grounded the best if the harness is grounded by itself to a clean bare metal surface.
