Question:
if i get the class 3 hitch for my 2026 lexus tx350 and want to use the plug in connector lights on my cargo carrier but might also want to tow jet skis some day do i buy the universal seven way connector for both no brake controller function for cargo carrier but would be eventually for a trailer. Or do i have to get curt $70+ 4 pole connector for cargo rack and a separate 7 way kit later when i get a trailer?

Hey David! I recommend starting with a custom 4-way wiring harness instead of the universal Curt # C59236 you were looking at. This will let you connect the lights on your cargo carrier without having to splice into your factory wiring. For your 2026 Lexus TX 350, you have two options depending on whether or not you have the factory tow package:
-Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness # C55245 (With factory tow package)
-Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness # C56RV (Without factory tow package)
Either one will give you the 4-way connection you need for your cargo carrier and most jet ski trailers. If you eventually need a 7-way for a trailer with electric brakes, you can add the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 along with a brake controller like # RED52VR.
You can install the # ETBC7 now while you're already working on the hitch and wiring, or wait until you actually need it. Since most jet ski trailers use surge brakes, or don't have brakes at all, you may find that the 4-way is all you need.
What kind of cargo carrier do you have and what are you hauling?
