Can the Geo Shower Portable Shower GS96FR Provide Hot Water Without Campground Hookups?
Published 10/30/2026 >
Question:
Were planning a week of camping out in Colorado where we wont have any water or electrical hookups. Im looking at the Geo Shower GS96FR because my wife would really appreciate a hot shower after hiking all day. Can we use water from a portable tank and power the shower from our trucks 12V system, or does it need a campground water connection? Is the pressure good enough for a shower?

Hey Brian, absolutely! The Geo Shower Portable Hot/Cold Pressurized Water System # GS96FR is actually made for the kind of camping you're planning. You don't need campground water hookups or a regular electrical outlet to enjoy a hot shower. The built-in 45 PSI pump pulls water from an external source, like a portable water tank, through the included 8' supply hose. That's going to give you a much better rinse than those gravity-fed camping showers. The tankless propane heater warms the water as it flows through the system, with temperatures reaching up to 120 degrees, so you can wash off all that trail dust without having to settle for a cold shower.
You'll just need a propane supply and an external 12V power source like the 12V outlet in your truck. The shower comes with a 10-foot cigarette-lighter style 12V auxiliary plug. I also like that everything is tucked into one protective case instead of having hoses and equipment scattered around camp. There's even a temperature display and an on/off control right at the shower wand, which is especially handy when you're trying to conserve water. Just make sure you're operating the propane heater outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
Are you planning to bring a separate freshwater tank?
