What Do I Need to Winter in a 2021 Dutchman Kodiak Ultimate 2921FDKS?

Updated 10/27/2026 | Published 10/22/2026

Question:

Hi! I own a 2021 Dutchman Kodiak Ultimate 2921FKDS. Its my first year with it and Im living in it through the winter. I got tank heaters, but I was told by an RV repair person that heated hoses are a good idea. Do you know the sizes of heated hoses I would need to replace the stock fresh water hoses? Are there other products that you would consider essential for living in a camper through winter? If so, please make recommendations! Thanks, Josh Thanks so much!

Hey Josh,

For a heated water hose, all the fittings are the same, but the length and internal diameter can be different. I'm not sure how long a hose you need but if you want a higher flow rate (more GPM) then I suggest going with a hose with a larger internal diameter. The Camco RV Heated Drinking Water Hose part # CAM22902 is 25' long, has a 5/8" internal diameter, and will plug directly into your 120V AC power outlet. If you need a shorter hose, the Camco heated drinking water hose also comes in 12' part # CAM22900.

I'm not sure how cold it'll get where you're at, but you may also want to invest in heaters for you water holding tank and gray and black water dump valve pipes and elbows. Something like the JR Products RV Holding Tank Heater part # 372HTH-A that is 30" long x 13" wide with a 24" ground wire has a built-in thermostat that kicks on when the temperature drops below 34 degrees F to keep your fresh water or septic tank from freezing. The dump valve pipe or the elbow can also freeze which can cause them to leak, crack, or even freeze wastewater inside the pipe. The ThermaHeat RV Dump Valve Pipe and Elbow Heating Pads part # 277-000162 work with 1 1/2" diameter pipes and elbows and easily stick onto the pipes. If you have 3" diameter pipes, you'll want to use the ThermaHeat RV Dump Valve Pipe and Elbow Heating Pads part # 277-000161 that are 13" long x 3" wide.

To keep wind from blowing under the RV you can also add an RV skirt to close it in. Based off the length and height of your camper something like the EZ-Snap RV 46" Skirting Kit in black part # ES668FR would be a perfect fit. If you're going to be parked anywhere with uneven terrain or a steep incline you might want to look at getting a longer skirt that's 60" like the EZ-Snap RV 60" Skirting Kit part # ES588FR. These RV skirts can be cut with scissors to trim it to fit perfectly and use a diamond weave fabric that resists UV, moisture, mold, and mildew.

What kind of environment are you planning on wintering in?
