Does Pop & Lock Manual Tailgate Handle Stay Unlocked Without the Key

Question:

Hello, I would like to purchase the Pop and Lock Custom Locking Tailgate Handle - Manual - Black Part Number: PAL5500 I have a question about it: I am looking for a locking latch handle that allows me to unlock it, and have it remain unnlocked until I lock it again. I want a lacth handle that doesnt require me to use the key to unlock it everytime I close it. Will this handle do what I am looking for it to do?

Hey Scott! Yes, the Pop & Lock Custom Locking Tailgate Handle # PAL5500 will work exactly how you want. You can unlock it with the key and leave it unlocked so you can open and close your tailgate as many times as you want. It won't automatically lock when you close the tailgate. You'll only need the key again when you're ready to lock it back up

@ScottG no, the # PAL5500 comes with its own set of keys, so you won't be able to use your Toyota ignition key to lock and unlock it.

@RobinH is this lock capable of remaining unlocked once I unlock it? Meaning So that when I unlcok it, I can open and close the tailgate? Or do I have to unlock it everytime I open the tailgate? @Scott yes, the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Handle # PAL5411 will work exactly how you want. Once you unlock it, you can open and close your tailgate as many times as you need without using the key again. It will stay unlocked until you manually lock it. Unlike the # PAL5500, the # PAL5411 can also be coded to work with your existing Toyota ignition key, so you won't have to carry a separate key for the tailgate.
