Installing A RoadActive Suspension Kit On A 2022 F-150 With Onboard Scales And Leveling System

Updated 10/19/2026 | Published 10/15/2026

Question:

I have a 2022 Ford F150 Limited 2 Wheel Dr. The vehicle is equipped with onboard scales and self leveling. What is the correct road active suspension for my vehicle? I primarily want to reduce the bouncing. I don’t do much towing. I would like to maintain my current ride quality.

Hi David!

Since you aren't going to be towing very often, I recommend going with the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611. This one is rated up to 2,000 pounds of capacity and really shouldn't mess with your unloaded ride very much at all. It will get rid of that bouncing you are getting though.

Installing this kit on your 2022 Ford F-150 Limited equipped with onboard scales and auto headlight/ride leveling requires special attention to the factory sensors on the driver's side. When installing the hardware on the driver’s side, take care around the factory auto-headlight leveling sensor bracket. RAS recommends using the 2nd hole in the bracket, but I have had a few people say that using that 2nd hole can bend or interfere with the sensor bracket. Those I heard this from said mounting via the 3rd hole helped avoid this.

The onboard scales won't pose any issues with the install. However, altering the rear spring preload and stance can temporarily shift baseline weight readings for your onboard scales. After installation, run the factory onboard scales calibration or reset procedure through the SYNC screen (or instrument cluster) if the truck perceives a permanent change in unladen ride height. It should be a pretty easy process to complete.

What do you typically have in the bed of your truck?

I currently have a fiberglass, hard top cover and 1000 pound rated bed slide. The vehicle is mostly empty, except traveling carrying luggage. I occasionally do some hauling for projects around the house.

@DavidB Gotcha. The 2,000 pound rated # RAS3611 is still the one I recommend since what you have on/in your bed shouldn't be any more than 500 pounds (at the very max). However, you could go with the 3,000 pound rated # RAS3611-HD and just set it pretty low if you wanted to have something with more capacity when you need it.
