Upgraded Shackle Straps With Grease Zerk Fittings For 2025 Coleman 17B Camper

Updated 10/16/2026 | Published 10/14/2026

Question:

Will this fit a 2025 Coleman 17B? I see a similar Coleman in another post but wanted to make this it would fit this one as well. Likely yes as its a pretty standard single axle Lippert frame.

Hey Chris!

Yes, the Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Upgrade Kit # K71-358-00 should be a great fit for your 2025 Coleman 17B! Your camper uses a pretty standard single-axle suspension setup, so I wouldn't expect any issues.

The main thing to verify is that your current shackle straps measure 3-1/8" from center to center of the bolt holes. As long as those match and you have standard double-eye leaf springs, this kit will work great. It should be the same size.

It's a worthwhile upgrade over the factory hardware, especially with the thicker shackles, bronze bushings, and greaseable wet bolts.

Are you looking to upgrade the suspension for peace of mind, or have you noticed some wear on the original shackles?

Thanks. I have been hearing some squeaking so I want to fix it right. Can't grease the bolts now so this will give me a really easy way to do that.

@Chris Heck yeah, good idea! Also if you ever have non-greaseable areas, I have found a product elsewhere called Lucas Oil Red N Tacky spray grease in a can. It can make a mess so be careful, but on my old 64 chevy truck I sprayed some of this in hard to reach and hard to grease areas, and it stays put and quiets it down. Just thought I'd share.

I put these on my 2017 Chalet XL1930. The original plastic bushings were squeaking. Worked great although I had some trouble injecting grease into one or two of the bolts. But now no squeaks! You’ll need a big wrench to get the old ones off.

@BruceB Thanks for the feedback, this will be really helpful to others with the same situation. I'm curious though why it was hard to put grease into one of the bolts. Do you think it was clogged? I do know some grease guns can be troublesome at first, especially if air is trapped in there.

@AndrewN, the leaf spring eye isn’t perfectly round and I think the grease port rotated to a place inside the spring eye where it was blocked.
