Hands Down the Best Suspension Upgrade for 2026 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Towing Trailer

Updated 10/15/2026 | Published 10/14/2026

Question:

Ive got a 2026 Silverado 2500HD and tow a 35foot Arctic Wolf. Shorter trips, 250 miles or less, every other weekend. Ive used the Firestone airbags and have had good luck. Wasnt aware of the RAS system. Seems like it might be a better fit as I dont tow as often and the ride improvement while not towing sounds like a good benefit. Your suggestion? Ive read through a number of the questions and it seems like this might be a better option. Got a new truck and need to get new airbags or the RAS.

Hey Rolley, welcome back! I cannot recommend the RAS Roadmaster Active Systems high enough as they literally give you the best of everything without any downsides. So for your 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 you will want the part # RAS3611-HD. Like you mentioned this gives you the best support, the simplest install without any maintenance, the best ride quality and handling when loaded and unloaded. I've sold my friends on the RAS kits and they've all told me how much better they liked them than air bags and Timbrens so I know you'll be super happy with them.

Easy install. Stiffens the rear and you will notice over harsh bumps when not loaded depending on the level you are set at. With that though you feel more confident in the rear handling.

I installed the RAS system on my 2024 1500 and my 2025 2500HD. Both trucks benefited from the extra spring assistance on the rear end when loaded while not suffering when unloaded. Axle wrap disappeared and rear end stability improved. On the 2500HD you can install without removing the rear tires however you might find it easier to get the springs “tuned in” via the spring adjustment. I went just over the white shim on mine. I hauled my 10,000 pound TT with no issues. Safe travels.

@Keith I agree. I put it just over the dime, and after two years I think I want to try the nickel adjustment. But it's worked really well. Just playing around with it a little.

RAS is by far the best all around suspension for towing or not. Set it and forget it. Just make sure your truck didn't come with factory overload springs before purchasing. OLS springs will need to be removed to install RAS. And that will affect the rear rode height.
