How Hot Can Sensors of TST TPMS System Get
Published 10/12/2026 >
Question:
I have installed a TST 507 series TPMS on a fire truck and would like to install on a second truck. Is there any concern if the cap sensors are very close to but not touching a brake drum? Inside dual tire stems are configured that the cap will be very close to the drum. Worried about heat on sensor.

Hey Greg, how close would the sensors be to the drum? The sensors can be up to 176 degrees according to the manufacturer so while brakes do get hot it comes down to mostly how close they would be but it would be a best guess as it's hard to say exactly how hot they would get.
