Hi Robert,

The Brophy Adjustable Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2" Hitches Part # BR66MJ is only to be used in the drop position. The plates were designed and rated for the drop position for it to handle 10K, they don't recommend using it in the rise position as it wasn't tested or designed for that. We do have the B&W Heavy-Duty Pintle Plate part # BWPMHD14004 that can be used in the rise position. It's rated for 16K and would give you either 11 1/2" or rise or drop from the bottom of the shank to the top of the plate. It has six different mounting positions so you should easily be able to find a height that works for your set up.

What kind of trailer are you wanting to use this with?

This will be used for pulling an army surplus M116 trailer with lunette ring behind a 1999 F250. I need the 7 inch rise to make up for the height difference between the truck and the much taller trailer. I'll go with the B&W model. Thanks.

@RobertB You're welcome! I see more and more people towing army trailers, can I ask what the appeal to them is over traditional utility trailers?

I'm not sure overall. I guess they are super rugged and good for offroad (37 inch tires). Also, pretty inexpensive at the surplus equipment auctions. I myself have ended up in this situation by purchasing an army surplus generator which came permanently mounted to one of these military trailers.

@Robert I've seen the generator trailers before, there's a military base not to far from us in Missouri, so we see them on the highway a lot. Is the generator for an off-grid set up or a backup for a house?
