Are There Rubber RV Step Covers For Aluminum Lippert 3 Step Setup On RV ?

Published 10/08/2026

Question:

We camp in Arizona and our aluminum RV steps get ridiculously hot in the summer. Ive burned my feet a few times running outside barefoot lol. Would these PopStep covers help with that, or does the black material get just as hot? We have 3-step Lippert SolidSteps.

Hey Gary!

The PopStep covers should be more comfortable than bare aluminum since the flexible PVC doesn't transfer heat as quickly as metal. They are still black though, so they can get pretty warm sitting in direct Arizona sunlight. Carpet would generally be cooler on bare feet, but PopSteps are much easier to clean and won't absorb water or dirt like carpet does.

The summer heat won't hurt the covers either. In fact, the flexible PVC is easier to work with and snap into place when it's warm outside! We just had the PopStep rep here today and he confirmed all this.

For your 3-step Lippert SolidSteps, we have two common sizes:

20" wide treads: # PS39UR

24" wide treads: # PS87UR

Just measure across the actual tread to confirm which one you need.

Are your steps exposed to direct sunlight all day, or do they get some shade from your awning? If you don't have an awning, we have those too which could help.
