Can I Use the USB-A to USB-C Power Cable Instead of the 12V Cigarette Power Adapter Cable?

Updated 10/08/2026 | Published 10/06/2026

Question:

Would the USB power cable be suitable as a direct monitor power cable in lieu of the supplied 12v cigarette lighted cable?

Hi Ben,

You can use either the Furrion 12V cigarette lighter to 5V USB-C cable part # FR54AF or the Furrion USB-A to USB-C cable part # FR34AF to power the Furrion S+ camera system monitor. The 12V cable is more reliable than the USB-A to USB-C cable though because it provides exactly 12V to the monitor which is converted to 5V USB-C that the monitor needs. Standard USB ports or USB-A ports are often low amperage, so you'll need to make sure the USB/USB-A port puts out at least 5V or 2.5 to 3 Amps so it can power the monitor without it cutting out or flickering.

Do you only use your Furrion camera system for backing? Or do you have it wired to run anytime the truck is on?

Any time the Class C is moving so I can see the towed vehicle.

@BenL Gotcha, sounds like its wired into the running lights then so it always gets power. Always a good idea to keep an eye on the toad just in case. What do you usually flat tow behind your motorhome?

I’ve been using the USB-A to USB-C cable for over a year with great success. Excellent clarity with no interference. I do have it plugged into an adapter that also provides power to my phone. It’s located under my center console arm rest. The adapter registers 12v of power.

@Chefmikie Awesome! Glad the cable is still working great after a year with no interference. Sounds like you've got a nice setup with the adapter, too. Thanks for the update!
