Can I Use the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect RM-766 on a 2026 Jeep Gladiator?

Question:

Is it possible to use a RM 766 battery disconnect switch on a 2026 Jeep gladiator with an auxiliary battery. And if so what is the wiring procedure, Thank you.

Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out. No, I do not recommend using the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766 on a 2026 Jeep Gladiator equipped with the auxiliary/start-stop battery. The # RM-766 is designed to disconnect a single battery, while the Gladiator’s dual-battery system requires both batteries to be isolated to completely remove 12V power.

More importantly, a battery disconnect is not required for flat towing the Gladiator, so there is no reason to work the RM-766 into that dual-battery system. Follow Jeep’s flat-towing procedure with the batteries connected. If your supplemental braking system needs 12V power while towing, use a dedicated 12V outlet kit instead.

What do you power from the aux battery?

The auxiliary battery is a factory battery for the start stop system.i understand the jeep is does not require one but the disconnect is beneficial for storing the vehicle when not using and also a wonderful security benefit. Thankyou Jesse for responding.

@PatrickS Ok gotcha that makes sense. Yes, you can use the # RM-766 disconnect for that purpose. I thought you were talking about for flat towing, but for storage/security purposes yes that will work.

@JesseM I used the Roadmaster battery disconnect on a 2026 Chev Colorado for flat towing. I like the system and it was easy to install. I hid the button under the dash near the hood release. You need to remember to lock all of the doors before pushing the disconnect . I think that it would be great for security.

I purchased the road master disconnect and wired into my Colorado trail boss and it worked great . When towed vehicle behind RV I also have a charge line from my RV to Colorado in case you have any phantom draws on your jeep. I had 2016 Jeep and never had to disconnect battery.
