Will The Thicker Upgraded Air Filter For Coleman Mach RV AC Unit Be Too Thick And Cause Issues?
Updated 10/07/2026 | Published 10/04/2026 >
Question:
From your pictures this appears thicker than the original foam filter. Isn’t that going to cause overheating or freeze up of the ac if the same amount of air can’t get through?

Hey Sonja.
Nope, it won't hurt a thing. The Replacement 14" x 6" Air Filter for Coleman Mach RV Air Conditioner # RA98QV is a really good quality replacement with better material than OEM. It has a MERV-6 rating so it catches smaller particles than the factory filters, and it’s made to provide the needed airflow while still trapping dust and debris.
As long as your current filter is the 14" by 6" size, this will be a nice upgrade.

I purchased these filters for a Coleman Mach they was usually last fall as a second a/c unit on a 2015 Eagle Jayco premier 5th. They were definitely thicker than the original filters. They fit excellent and I had no issue with a/c performance. It was a good decision
