Updated 10/04/2026 | Published 10/02/2026

Question:

2015 Keystone Cougar 29RLI with front ac. I need a replacement and would like to go with a heat pump. Current unit is Dometic single area. Love my Furrion that I replaced the other ducted unit with. Which model should I be looking at.

Hey James, thanks for writing in. Since you love your Furrion AC, I definitely recommend replacing your old Dometic with another Furrion. Here is what I recommend:

- Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump & Ceiling Assembly - 18K Btu - Non-Ducted - R32 # FR87TQ (Black)

- Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump & Ceiling Assembly - 18K Btu - Non-Ducted - R32 # FR77TQ (White)

These are both complete AC systems, so you get everything needed to replace your Dometic. You get the rooftop unit with heat pump, full ceiling assembly (for non-ducted setup), and wall thermostat/remote. It's a fully brand matched system so you won't have to worry about any compatibility issues. It'll be a solid upgrade from your old unit. The Furrion is more efficient and will cool more effectively. Plus, it is pretty quiet as far as RV AC units go.

Is the front AC non ducted where it dumps straight down into the room? Or is that one ducted as well?

I bought two Furrion and will not look back. The most noticeable is the wattage they both draw

I replaced a working Coleman Mach 15 with the Furrion heat pump. The cooling capacity is so much better. The airflow is very noticeably higher. We have a ducted system with 8 outlets. It seems the unit may freeze up so I run it with the direct vent open. The Turbo mode really helps. The only negative I have is some low frequency resonance at one running speed near the lowest. We are anxious to try heating this winter. One warning, due to the EMI filter, it trips a ground fault on a 20 amp outlet in 50% reduced power mode.
