Longer Hitch Pin for Hollywood Destination 4 on a 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 09/10/2026 | Published 09/06/2026

Question:

Hello! I drive a 2024 Tacoma and I have a Hollywood Destination 4 rack. The OEM hitch pin is too thick to go into the rack and the rack’s pin is too short for the hitch receiver. Hollywood Racks told me I need a longer 1/2-13tpi hitch pin, but I am not sure what I should get. Please let me know and thank you. Josh

Hi Josh! Hollywood Racks actually makes a longer locking hitch pin specifically for the Destination 4 and thicker OEM hitches like the one on your Tacoma. The Hollywood Racks Locking Threaded Hitch Pin LHPTD-K001 uses the same 1/2"-13 TPI thread and is 3.75" long with the R clip, so this would be the first one I’d recommend trying. Hollywood Racks specifically lists it for the Destination 4 part # HR4000.

If you need even more length, Hollywood also offers the HPN-13, which is a non-locking 1/2"-13 TPI threaded hitch pin that measures 4-1/8" long. We don’t currently carry either of these particular pins, but Hollywood Racks does.

Based on what you described, I’d go with the LHPTD-K001 since it gives you the extra length you need while still keeping the locking feature of your original Destination 4 pin. Do you think the 3.75" length will give you enough room on your Tacoma’s hitch?
