Question:
I see others asking if this will fit the 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5i without the WRX trim For my needs I would greatly prefer this class 2 hitch over the alternative curt class 1 hitch, both because of trailer weight and receiver size. I took a cursory look at my rear bumper beam and it appears to be the same as a WRX, it is only the rear plastic bumper fascia that is slightly different at the bottom edge where the hitch receiver protrudes. I am comfortable cutting or swapping the bumper fascia to allow the receiver to protrude on my 2.5i sedan my question is: will this hitch bolt up on the 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan non-WRX if the plastic fascia is not a factor?

Hey Doug, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I can’t confirm the EcoHitch # 306-X7279 as a fit for the 2011 Impreza 2.5i sedan, even if you’re comfortable modifying or replacing the rear fascia. TorkLift specifically designed and tested this hitch for the 2011-2014 WRX and WRX STI sedans, and those are the only applications they list for it.
Even if the bumper beam and mounting points appear identical, I cannot confirm that the underlying structure and attachment points are identical enough to safely use the hitch on the non-WRX 2.5i. Since this is a load-bearing towing component, I can't recommend modifying the vehicle to make an unconfirmed hitch fit. For your 2.5i, it is best to stick with a hitch specifically confirmed for that model which is the Curt # C11317.
What will you be using the hitch for?

Hey doug subaru geek here , The eco hitch #306-X7279 will bolt on to your inner crash bumper, but out to the plastic bumper you would need to do cutting and customization for the reciever location, this hitch is more complex in a WRX trim since the receiver goes trough the bottom middle bumper plastic trim where people install the “F1 brake light”
