Can Traditional Hitch Pin be Used with Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH23JV

Published 09/02/2026

Question:

Is there a way to lock the bike rack to the car using a traditional locking hitch pin? I am concerned the tightening knob lock is pretty easy to disable. The tightening knob assembly appears to have a threaded shaft that would interfere where one could put a locking pin. Thanks.

Hey Karl, the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH23JV that you referenced does have a way to use a traditional hitch pin unless you really want to modify it by drilling out the shank of the rack and running a pin through the hole. This would for sure void the warranty and also would destroy parts of the bike rack and there's no telling how safe it would be to use at that point. Do you already have this bike rack? If not, maybe looking at something different would be a better option but with that said this rack does not have a reputation as being easy to disable or steal.
