Can The Older Thule 897XT Hullavator Be Adapted To Yakima CoreBar Crossbars?
Updated 09/01/2026 | Published 08/27/2026 >
Question:
I have the older 897xt hullavator and want to add the mounting assembly to a second truck, so need the entire assembly. It will mount on Yakama Core bars, so will need the z-style underbar clamp. Can you tell me all the part numbers needed for this? Regards, Teri

Hey Teri, thanks for reaching out. For the older Thule Hullavator 897XT, you can duplicate the mounting setup on a second vehicle, but there is one catch with your Yakima CoreBars. The CoreBar is an aero-style bar, and the older 897XT hardware was not designed for that profile. The larger āZā style clamp you are thinking of belongs to the newer Hullavator Pro # TH898, and Thule does not offer an adapter package that converts the older 897XT mounting assembly to that newer CoreBar/aero-bar clamp arrangement. We've confirmed this by checking directly with Thule.
If you want to keep using the 897XT on the second truck, the only route is using compatible crossbars for the original 897XT mounting system like a Yakima JetStream crossbar for example. If you want to stay with the Yakima CoreBars, the newer Hullavator Pro # TH898 is the version designed around that larger aero-bar mounting setup.
