Published 08/27/2026

Question:

I have a 2025 toyota tacoma. Its max towing capacity is 6500Lbs. I tow a small boat trailer and a kayak trailer with gvw about 3000 Lbs. What would be the best adjustable tow hitch options that would work well for my truck? 2 ball most often. Please advise.

Hey Scott!

For your 2025 Toyota Tacoma, I really like the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook with 2" and 2-5/16" Balls # BW67BR. It gives you both of the most common ball sizes, so you can easily switch between your boat and kayak trailers without swapping ball mounts.

It adjusts from a 3-1/4" rise down to a 7-1/4" drop, giving you plenty of flexibility to keep either trailer level. The 2" ball is rated for 10,000 lbs and the 2-5/16" ball for 16,000 lbs, so it has more than enough capacity for your roughly 3,000-lb trailers and your Tacoma's towing capacity.

One of my favorite features is the Tow & Stow design. When you're not towing, you can pull the pins and rotate the ball assembly underneath the truck rather than removing the whole ball mount. That keeps it out of the way, gives the back of your Tacoma a cleaner look, and saves your shins when walking around the truck.

Do you know approximately how much drop or rise you need to keep your trailers level?
