Question:

I have a 1998 ez loader trailer with a Dexter a 60 master cylinder that is no longer available the tongue is an A Frame type so there is nothing to bolt to what’s the best option for me. This is a Skeeter zx201c the brakes are surge brakes

Hey Ronnie. To replace your EZ Loader Trailer's surge brake actuator, I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator item # DX89FR for disc brakes or item # DX83FR for drum brakes.

These surge brake actuators have a 7,500 lbs capacity, fit a 2" hitch ball, and are designed to bolt to a 3" wide trailer tongue. The disc brake item # DX89FR actuator includes an electric lockout so you can back your trailer down the ramp without the brakes engaging.

You're most likely going to need to cut off your obsolete Dexter surge brake actuator and add a 3" wide tongue to your EZ Loader Trailer. The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator item # DM8609502 is one of the only a A-frame surge brake couplers that we have. It works with drum brakes only and fits a 2" hitch ball. This is a weld on coupler that works with 50-degree A-frame trailers.
