Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2026 Chevy Trax for Carrying Bike Rack
Updated 08/13/2026 | Published 08/07/2026 >
Question:
Looking at 2026 Trax owner’s manual it says vehicle is not designed for towing. It looks like the Curt Hitch is pretty substantial. My plan is for hauling bikes using a receiver rack. Have you heard of anyone having problems with their Trax after installing this receiver hitch. Thanks

Hey Richard, we have only had positive feedback from owners of Chevy Trax's like your 2026 model after the install of the Curt hitch part # C75VV so it will work great for you to carry bike racks. It's very common for a vehicle to not be rated for towing a trailer and we have a hitch available. Basically if there's a demand for a hitch our manufacturers are going to make one and its up to the owners of the vehicle to "use it responsibly" haha. What kind of bikes do you have?

I've been hauling two mountain bikes on a Kuat Piston Pro rack with my 2025 Trax. The receiver hangs a ways out from the mounting location on the car, so there's a lot of leverage from the bike rack. It's been working fine but I worry about the long-term durability at the mounting points. The suspension is very soft on the car also, it really squats with the rack two bikes and any cargo.

I wouldn't tow anything with a 3 cylinder engine either. However on our 2025 Trax this hitch worked great with our three bike carrier. It create a lower point on the backend and we have had it drag a few times leaving a parking lot with a deep dip.

I had no issues. I heard someone say it would void my warranty to ad a hitch. I confirmed with my dealership that I was fine as long as it was used for very lite use. I just wanted to pull my kayak. As I understand it, the SAME CAR in other countries is rated for light towing. So, I’m sure our lawsuit culture is why they maintain an OUT in America

I purchased one of these for my 2025 Chevrolet Trax Activ. I use it exclusively for a bike rack. It works great.

Thanks Jameson. My own conclusion also but was curious if there is an “official” position. I have a Lynsky Titanium frame bicycle and a Trek Verve 2+ e-bike. Carry them on 1UP USA racks. I’ve been in touch with your recommended installers for installing the base plate on a Trax and will add the receiver. Now I just need to buy the car.
