Front Hitch Installation and Maintenance Services

Updated 08/12/2026 | Published 08/06/2026

Question:

Does the installation of the front 2 hitch affect the free toyota services like multi point inspections, oil changes, tire rotations and all the services offered on new vehicles, specifically removal of the heat shield.

Thanks for reaching out Paul. Congratulations on the new truck! Installing a front receiver hitch like # C55RJ should not affect your free maintenance services. Many front hitch installations (including OEM options) require trimming or removal of the front air dam or heat shield so this is not uncommon. You are also reusing factory mounting points so this should not impede the performance of any routine maintenance items. You could certainly reach out to the dealership to confirm this if you wanted to be safe, but I have never heard of this being an issue.

What are you planning to carry on the front of your truck?

I have a short piece of private road i need to clear snow from (100 yds) and the road is quite smooth so I will be adding a small snowplow. Looks like the DK2 might fit my needs the best. Thanx for the quick response.

I keep a luggage rack that fold up normally. As I need I put bike rack, motorcycle rack, winch. I found having rack folded up it shuts off my cruise control. I am sure there is a way to get around this but have not even thought about it lately. I mostly use front rack to haul fire wood or if lucky enough to kill an animal I put it there as they have bugs ticks and such no reason to have blood in truck. Also not as high to reach. Motorcycle I have now to big to use on front. But best way to haul bicycles.

@GlennW Appreciate the feedback. Sounds like you're getting good use out of the # C55RJ!
