Will the MoonShade Vacuum Anchors Work on a Capri Camper with Diamond Pattern Siding?

Those Capri campers are really cool. I like the diamond pattern on the siding too, but it does make mounting vacuum anchors a little more challenging.

The round vacuum anchors included with the MoonShade Original Awning with Vacuum Anchor Mounts # MN94FR measure 4-1/2 inches in diameter and require a smooth, flat surface to create a secure seal. Because of the raised diamond pattern on your camper, they won't be able to seal directly to that surface.

If you're looking for a different option, the MoonMount Oval Vacuum Anchor with Eyelet # MN44FR is available separately. It measures 3 inches wide by 5-7/8 inches long, and its narrower shape may fit your camper's pattern better. Since I don't know the exact size and spacing of the diamonds on your Capri, I can't say for certain whether it will provide enough flat contact area to create a reliable seal. I attached images of the dimensions of each vacuum anchor.

If neither vacuum anchor has enough smooth surface to work with, I'd install a few flat aluminum mounting plates where you want to attach the awning. A piece of flat aluminum sheet provides the smooth surface the vacuum anchors are designed to grip, while also resisting corrosion. I'd secure the plates with stainless steel screws or stainless steel rivets, then seal the fasteners and the perimeter of each plate with Sikasil GP Silicone Sealant for RVs - Clear - 295 ml # SI95FR to help keep moisture out. That gives the vacuum anchors a solid, smooth mounting surface without relying on the raised diamond pattern.

What adventure has been your favorite in you Capri Camper? I would love to have an in-bed camper one day so you can get to the roads less traveled =) I also see that you got the sway bar, have you had a chance to get it installed to feel the difference?
