Hello, I have a 2012 Open Range 398rls 5ver. I have a Thetford model 42072 style II high, bone tray 120314. Toilet, my question is, is there a better upgraded model or brand??? My problem is flush ball does not close and had it replaced a year ago and also rv really smells like sewage. I really wanna good Toilet replacement for it but, I will take your recommendation and will order from you as I have had great things from your company. Thanks for your question. Based on the part number you provided, it looks like you have a version of the Thetford Aqua-Magic II toilet. If you'd prefer to replace the toilet to see if it resolves the odor issue, I'd be happy to recommend a few replacement options. We don't carry the 42072, so I'd just need to confirm a few measurements first:

Rough-in measurement (measured from the wall behind the toilet to the center of the floor flange or mounting bolts)
Seat height
Whether your current toilet is secured with 2 mounting bolts or 4 mounting bolts

I'd also recommend checking a couple of other common causes of persistent sewer odors before replacing the toilet. A blocked black tank roof vent can prevent the tank from venting properly and cause odors to linger inside the RV. It's also worth inspecting the flush ball seal for debris or waste buildup, as even a small amount can prevent it from sealing completely.

Finally, one maintenance item that's often overlooked is lubricating the toilet seal. Using a product like Thetford Toilet Seal Lubricant and Conditioner # TH49HE helps keep the seal soft and pliable, allowing it to close properly and preventing both odors and water from leaking past the seal.
