Question:

Hi, The hinge on our car top carrier just broke on our weekend camping trip. We bought it second hand and I cannot find a model number. It is a boxy look with cream on the top, grey on the bottom and a snail on the side it says x-cargo. The latches on the front and back are metal. Can you help me? I would like to get replacement hinges and also possibly replacement latches since ours are rusty. Do you carry these items? I have attached a photo of one that is similar to ours that is currently being sold on ebay. Thanks,

We have other customers who have used the # 03347 latch as a replacement on their X Cargo boxes (see photo), and it has worked just fine.

Since your box is a little older, and appears to have used the metal latches, you might need to relocate the mounting holes for the latch, but other than that, the latch should work just fine for you.

For the Sears X-Cargo boxes, the only hinge that will fit according to Thule is # TH14933. Both hinges measure 10-1/2 inches long from the center hole on one end to the center hole on the other end when fully extended.

We have also had some customers experience difficulty closing the box because the spring tension is greater in strut # TH14936 compared to # TH14933. Both of these have the exact same dimension but # TH14933 is slightly easier to close for some people.
