Can The Curt Skid Shield C31007 Be Used In The Rear Hitch?

Question:
The Curt front hitch skid plate. No reason it couldn’t be used on the rear hitch receiver also correct? I have a situation where my rear receiver is digging into a steep dirt driveway when backing up

Hi James!
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Skid Shield # C31007 can absolutely be used on the rear hitch. The only thing you want to double check is the length you need.
Rear hitches tend to be a bit more recessed than front hitches and the closest edge of this will be 5-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole (see included image). The top of the skid shield will also be just about 2" above the shank, so you will want to double check to make sure those measurements will work for you. If they do, you are good to go!
