Looking for the Compatible Replacement Converter Section for a Elixir ELX-45

Updated 07/13/2026 | Published 07/06/2026

Question:

I am converting my Lead Acid battery on my 2004 Forest River trailer to Lithium Ion and need a compatible converter. My existing converter is an Elixer ELX-45. Do you have a compatible replacement converter, hopefully one that doesnt require any fancy retrofitting?

Thanks for reaching out Stephen,

Unfortunately, we don't carry a direct replacement converter section that drops into the Elixir ELX-45 power center. If you're looking for the simplest lithium compatible solution, I'd recommend replacing the entire power center with the Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series Mini RV Converter with Charge Wizard and AC/DC Distribution Panel # PD4045KA. It's a 45-amp lithium compatible converter that supports lithium, flooded lead-acid, AGM and gel batteries.

If you'd prefer to keep your existing power center, another option is the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series Converter # PD69RR. This can be installed as a standalone converter, but it does require some custom wiring and mounting, so it isn't quite as plug and play.

Do you typically camp off-grid or with hookups?

Thanks James. We mostly camp off-grid with a coleman 200 amp solar panels and a coleman 8.5 amp solar charge controller with 14.2 v cut-out and 13 v cut-in.

@StephenH ok cool, since you're mostly off-grid this converter will make sure your lithium battery are charged whenever you're on shore power or running a generator, while your solar handles charging when you're off the grid. Thanks for stopping by and we appreciate you choosing etrailer!
