2017 Ford Explorer XLT Does the connector have a ground wire that needs to be connected? I do not see a ground wire on the connector. The installation video does not show a ground wire being connected. The instructions that came with the connector says to install the ground wire.

No, it does not Jay! The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56172 grounds through the factory port it plugs into on your 2017 Ford Explorer. You'll simply plug it in to the factory wiring behind your bumper on the passenger side like the picture attached below.

I have a 2019 Ford Explorer XLT, and I installed both the Trailer Hitch Receiver and the T-Connector myself in my driveway. The T- Connector is just plug and play. It couldn't be easier, honestly. I did add a little di-electric grease just to be thorough.

I had a guy who had a hoist install for me one day while I was at work. He said it was an easy installation. We drove the explorer from Arizona pulling a small 8x5 enclosed trailer, no trailer brakes, but it want needed because it was light enough. All the lights worked as intended. Blinkers. Hazards. Tail lights and brake lights. I hope this helps.
