Are the u-bolts available separately? I have a set of 40 year old bars of an unknown brand and the is some wear between the u-bolt and first link.

Hey Chris thanks for the picture! The U-Bolts are not sold separately but I have a kit that might replace your u-bolts and chains. It's the Curt Weight Distribution Replacement Lift Chain Kit item # C17111. This kit includes two 3/8" diameter u-bolts that are 1-7/8" long and measure 7/8" wide from the center to center of the bolts.
I attached a diagram below so you can compare these measurements to the ones on your spring bars.
Do you see any markings on the head of the weight distribution system? That's typically where a part numbers stamped.
