Will C11210 Cause Lowered 2012 Ford Mustang to Bottom Out

Question:

My mustang is lowered on coilovers it’s about two inches lower than a normal mustang has anyone had issues bottoming out on the tow hitch?

Hey Caiden,

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11210 is rated for up to 2,000 lbs of towing capacity and 200 lbs of tongue weight. That does make it pretty easy to bottom out if you're using the hitch for heavy cargo like multiple e-bikes, but in my experience it hasn't been a point of trouble for our customers when using this hitch. When there's no weight on the hitch, it will sit pretty close to your bumper to avoid scraping the ground or sagging and it won't cause you any issues with bottoming out.

What are you planning to carry on your Mustang? If it's possible, I'd definitely look into using a larger vehicle if your cargo is going to be on the heavier side of this hitch's capacity. What's the ground clearance height on your Mustang?

Hello Caiden, I have a v6 Mustang with coil-overs. I did find that on sharp slopes it did drag slightly but on regular roads it wouldn't drag. I wouldn't put much weight on the tongue of the trailer but with about 500lbs above the trailer axle should be fine.
