Question:
I have a use case question for the Gen-Y replacement shank part 325-GH-404 that I hope you can help with. I have 2015 Jayco Greyhawk 32foot Class C motorhome with which I want two carry two e-bikes and use a tow-dolly to tow my 2014 Chevy Spark. I plan on using the Gen-Y replacement shank P/N 325-GH-404 with the Brophy 13-1/4inch long ball mount P/N BH20 for the tow dolly. This would be placed on the lower receiver. The e-bikes would be carried on the RV rated Young Electric 200lb Tire-Clamp E-bike rack mounted on one of the upper receivers. The motor home has a 5000lb towing capacity with a 500lb tongue weight limit. Tongue Weight = E-Bike 1 = 62 lbs E-Bike 2 = 41 lbs E-Bike Carrier = 90 lbs Car on Tow Dolly = 150 lbs Total 343 lbs What I dont know is the weight of the Gen-Y shank or the Brophy ball mount. But I cant imagine these would bring me over the 500 lbs limit. My understanding is that using the Gen-Y replacement shank does not require you to cut the tongue weight limit by 50. Does this all seem good? Thanks Dave

Hey David! You can definitely use the Gen-Y # 325-GH-404 to carry the e-bikes and tow your Chevy Spark behind the Jayco. The Gen-Y stacked receiver is built like a tank and won't reduce your capacity by 50% like other adapters as you said.
Also, you don't have to worry about the weight of the adapter. Ball mounts (this is technically part of a ball mount anyway) are considered to be an extension of the hitch and aren't counted as part of the tongue weight.
Either way, you will be under the capacity of your hitch and able to carry/tow everything you want to. The only things I would double check are the capacity of the motorhome itself, and also make sure your bike rack is rated for a motorhome. I would also consider adding an anti-rattle like # e38FV to help reduce movement on the adapter.
Where are you headed with the Greyhawk once you get everything set up?
