Would you Recommend Upgrading to a 18K BTU or adding a 2nd AC to the RV?

Question:

have a 2013 cougar 321 res with a single 15k ducted ac but is prewired for a 2nd ac. needs more to keep the ac cool in central and west texas. We also camp in state parks some and on get 30 amp service sometimes. Would i be better off going to an 18k chill cube or adding the front non ducted ac?

Happy to help Steve, thanks for reaching out!

If your Cougar is prewired for a second AC, adding a non ducted front AC like Furrion Chill Cube 15k # FR75TD would provide better cooling throughout the RV rather than replacing the 15k unit with a Furrion 18k Chill Cube # FR27TD. Two AC units would cool the bedroom and living room independently.

For 30 amp service, you typically won't be able to run both AC units at the same time without power management system in the RV. If you frequently camp where only 30 amp service is available, upgrading to an 18K Chill Cube may be the better option since it provides more cooling capacity while remaining a single AC system. If you're not sure whether your RV has an Energy Management System (EMS), check your owner's manual

What area needs to stay cool the most between the living room and bedroom?
